So Not Right

A place to publish things that are So Not Right. Also a place for me to put my own thoughts out there on the internet (I guess my thoughts could be considered So Not Right as well).

Birthdays, Bars, and Bears, OH MY!

What a busy and fun filled weekend. My very best friend in the whole wide world celebrated his Birthday this past weekend. Happy Birthday Gary...you look great for 29. It all started with a fabulous cocktail party and overflowed to the Dallas Bars. This weekend being Texas Bear Roundup, the bars were packed. After a few hours at the Roundup we checked out another bar that ended up getting shut down by the Fire Marshall...too many people in one place. I think the Marshall was afraid of all that hair on all those men rubbing together and igniting the place.

A special shout-out to Doyle, Jeff and Joe (who will now be known as the Detroit Boys). I hope you all had a most wonderful time while in Dallas. I think we fullfilled your desires to meet all those bloggers you have been following from here. We expect you boys to start your own blog now. We definately hope to see you in April for the Easter festivities.

Speaking of...don't anyone forget...Easter with my Peeps is coming up, Easter Sunday, April 16th. I am working on the bonnet again, will post pictures soon.

Monster Trucks and Old Houses

This past weekend I traveled to Beaumont to visit my family for a couple of days.
My 10 year old nephew decided to take me to see the Monster Truck Rally that was being held there. Now I must admit, I have never been to a monter truck rally and really never had any desire to go to one before. To my suprise, I had a wonderful time with my nephew, sister and brother-in-law. The trucks were really cool and the show they put on was very entertaining. They had a new monster truck there that was modeled after the batmobile. That was definately my favorite.

Saturday night my dad and stepmother took us to a murder mystery dinner party that was held at this old historic house built in 1902 in Kountze, TX. It is called the Kirby-Hill house and is currently under renovation by a preservation group. They hold these murder mystery dinner parties a couple of times a year as fundraisers to help restore the house. The acting was campy, the story line was funny, and the food was great. All in all it was a nice way to spend the evening with the family and help with the restoration of a neat old house.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me. Yes that is my newborn picture from the hospital. I was born at 4:46pm on this date. And I had a full head of hair back then. I am not revealing my age at this time.

I am going Peeping crazy!!!

Making progress on the bonnet for Easter. Of course my fingers are covered in colored sugar now, I guess that just makes me sweeter.

Time to make the Bonnet

With "Easter with my Peeps" fast approaching (ok, it is 39 days away according to the lent calendar) I have had to get to work on this years Easter bonnet. I took a bonnet that I made a couple of years ago and used the base of it for this years bonnet. I removed most of the fabric and netting from the top. Here is what it looked like two years ago.

After removing some of the old decorations, I began the process of shaping the new bonnet. As said before in a previoous post, this years hat will be covered with marshmallow peeps. The next picture shows how foam core is being added to the hat to add stability. Styrofoam will be use to add a layer on the top of the hat. Individual peeps will be glued to the top of the hat. A huge stuffed peep will be sewn at the very top. It is a peeping good time making a bonnet. I will add more pictures as the process continues.
